This brief piano trio is a set of variations on my song "Moore's Garden" from Sweet Briar Songs, and was written during my residency at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in April 2010. I felt inspired to write the piece when Patricia Valdata, the poet whose texts I used to create the Sweet Briar Songs, and who I met during my first VCCA residency, arrived at the colony just as I had finished another piece and was casting about for my next project.
