Filip Ivanov was born in Skopje, on May 2, 1992 as a third generation of musicians in one of the most prominent musical families in Macedonia. He is continuing the legacy of the one that founded the early beginnings of Macedonian musical education and academic institutions. His “Concerto for violin and orchestra No.1” caught the attention of the National Macedonian Television as well as the distinguished Macedonian musicologist, Marko Kolovski.
Filip Ivanov is the youngest awarded composer in R. of Macedonia whose pieces are performed by the “National Philharmonic Orchestra” and the chamber ensemble “Kontempora”. Seven of his compositions have been already commissioned by the Macedonian Ministry of Culture winning four consecutive years of competitions in composition of contemporary classical music.
In the past years of an exceptional prolific inspiration with compositions performed on the festival “Days of Macedonian Music” in 2014, marking his debut, up until this day, as well as the orchestrations for concerts performed by “National Opera & Ballet”. His musical profile clearly defines him as a major exponent of absolute music. His artistic personality emerged freely composing pieces of highly original modern musical patterns transformed from folk melodic and rhythmical elements, thus complementing his composer’s style where “Music is a play of moving shapes that create sounds”.
The individual beauty of his classical contemporary compositions includes cycle songs for voice and piano, pieces for choir, compositions for solo instruments, chamber, and orchestral compositions. At the moment, he is working on several commissioned pieces composing soundtracks for movies, popular songs orchestrations and arrangements.
Having taken his double major degrees in BM in Composition, under the guidance of Professor Soni Petrovski and Professor Jana Andreevsksa, and BM in Musical Theory at the University of Music in Skopje.
