Program Notes

As a Scottish composer, I’ve always had a love of folk songs/poetry, and Robert Burns is a staple in that sense. This is one of my favourite Burns’ songs and it’s a deep meditation on love and loss. I really enjoyed putting my own spin on it in this arrangement for SATB choir. I’ve focused on texture and lush harmonies to add an additional layer to what is already a beautiful text, and the arrangement is suitable for both amateur and professional choirs alike.
